Hi, My daughter is diagnosed with NS when she was 18 months (1 1/2 years) old. After the Prednisolone (30 Gm Daily for 30 days and 15 gm every consecutive days for 30 days) she returned to normal. But now (after 3 months without drug) her urine again shows +++ protein. Anyone here has similar condition. pls share Balaji

Hi there, My daughter was diagnosed Oct '07 at 21 months old and after finishing her first Prednisone round in early January (with great success) she relapsed 6 weeks later after getting a little stuffy nose. Her relapse was caught early before edema and she responded quickly to the Prednisone. We had about 6 weeks of treatment for her relapse and it's now been 6 weeks since she's been off and she's doing great. She had a high fever/flu for 5 days this week and her protein still stayed at negative so we are very hopeful that means that her little body is fighting hard and is strong right now. Try not to be too discouraged by this quick relapse. At this age and during these first few years after diagnosis, I've been told that this is very common. I hope that your daughter will respond quickly and consistently and that this summer will bring an end to cold season and hopefully an end to more relapses. Utilize the nephrology clinic resources to the fullest extent (on-call docs, nurses, available research/information packets, etc) to keep yourself informed and remember that you're not alone! Balaji I have posted in the past about my son (8)e has biopsy-confirmed MCNS. He has been on steroids the past 20 months and we are trying to get him off. He is currently also on Cellcept - he is steroid-dependent. Please also look up differences between frequent relapser and steroid-dependent Good luck Swami Nathan --Previous Message-- : Hi, : : My daughter is diagnosed with NS when she : was 18 months (1 1/2 years) old.
