I am new to the message board, but not new to NS. My son was diagnosed in Sept. of 05. He finished his round of Prednisone and continued with Enalipril and Cozaar. In Nov. we planned a trip to Disney World for March. Two days after Christmas, his urine protein was +4. We started another round of Prednisone. He responed and we were tapering off during our vacation. He had a wonderful time! The day after we returned he again tested +4. After a week of continuing to taper and trying to allow his body a chance to correct itself, he was admitted into the hospital in a severe nephrotic state. He spent a week in the hospital receiving albumin/lasix treatments and received a much higher dose of prednisone. I don't know what the future holds, but last week we bought a rv and just returned from a camping trip (better than before the hospital bill comes in). My point is there is no pattern to this condition. My son was almost to the three year mark without a relapse when one hit out of the blue. It breaks my heart to see my son struggle with the side effects of the prednisone, but our family bonds have strengthened as a result of this condition. If a new baby will bring joy to your child and unity to your family, then I say go for it! You can't predict the future, and your love for your child will allow you to cope with anything that comes your way. Who knows? Maybe your child will be one of the lucky ones who never relapses.
Good luck and God Bless!

: to wait a few months after that to see how
: the siatuation will evolve: will he relapse
: once off the medication, or not.... Bevause
: dealing with a newborn is demanding
