We were advised not to do a cruise since if we were to have her relapse or have her on Prednisone during the trip, we most likely wouldn't want to be in the middle of the Caribbean without access to an ER or pediatrician. Our doctors advice - go to Hawaii. :0) So we booked our trip after Madison finished her first round of Pred (and coincidentally, the week that she relapsed)and we're heading back to Hawaii at the end of May. We saw that she was most likely heading for relapsed but decided that we can't put everything on hold for the next 15 years that we may be dealing with this. We just booked a direct flight to minimize airplane time and we know that there is a clinic near our condo if we need it.
We also waited until she finished her first round of Pred before I went off of birth control. We wanted to be sure that she responded well to her first round so even though there are always so many unknowns in terms of relapses and the future - at least we know that for now, she responds and can get off of the Prednisone. That's a great start and even if I was to get pregnant today - 9 months is such a long time from now. There's no way to say that it won't be hard timing but with the added confidence that I feel just 6 months after diagnosis, I can only hope to feel even more stable a year from now when a new one may be joining our family.
So, that's where we're at right now...
