Posted by lilsea on October 6, 2007, 7:41 pm, in reply to "Cytoxan Treatment and Nephrotic Syndrome" My dr said that children normally respond to the steroids by 6 weeks, if not than they are steroid resistant. Those children are harder to treat because they need to use more aggressive meds and chances of relapse are higher than those that respond to the steroids. With the cytoxan, he said normally by 4 weeks on the meds, there is a response and urine proteins are down to 0. I wish you lots of great luck!

My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome this past July. We did 7 weeks of prednisone (at 6 weeks we added cytoxan) and she had no response. She hasn't had any side effects from the cytoxan (she's been on it for 2 weeks now), but I need to keep her away from people that are sick, have the sniffles, etc.
