Dive report 10/23/15 - Venture 3

The Venture 3 hit 3 sites today: two rock piles and the N'East Sailor, looking for bugs and fish. |
The sailor was full of sea bass, and some very nice sized ones to boot. A few bugs were taken among all three stops, but not what you'd call a stellar harvest.
Didn't see any Tog, but we weren't really on the type of dive sites where you'd expect to.
I saw a lone yellow butterfly fish on the NE Sailor, no one else mentioned seeing any tropicals.
Water temp ranged from 63-65, depending on whose computer you used. The viz has cleared up a bit and the surface is much cleaner. About 10 ft viz on the bottom but not as dark and murky as it's been this year.
Seas were 2-4 as predicted, and it was a tad snotty out there, but not horrible.
Most of us have been throwing our gear in the car at night and taking it out early the next morning for the past two months because of cancelled dive trips. We had two computer failures and two wrist seal failures among us. We all carry extra gear and repair supplies, so we still safely did our dives. But it's no fun changing a computer battery on a rocking boat while everyone else is diving and you're missing out on the dip. Just because you're not using your stuff doesn't mean it's not getting older. Check your gear, especially in-season when it hasn't been used for a while, don't assume it's okay.
