Side tunnel video from the Tilly Foster Mine on June 7th

In the link attached is a video I shot yesterday of the third side tunnel at the "Deep Flooded Mine" in Brewster, NY. Spotted by Teddy Garlock in late April, we have visited, laid cave line and shot video, but this was the first clear video of the tunnel captured. The "Garlock Shaft" as we have named it, connects to another tunnel at a ninety degree angle, then goes for a couple hundred feet in total length, in either direction. There is a second tunnel entrance from the sheer wall, a tunnel spotted by John Eells, and it also connects, right next to the "Garlock Shaft" at a point where there are three pillars in this video. We believe the pillars are a structural support for the large space, but since the entire tunnel system is carved out of granite, we think it is structurally sound. Soil and water samples have been taken and are being analyzed. Observations are that initially the water was stratified, and this was captured in earlier videos. We believe these tunnels were carved in the 1860s-70s, and we think we are the first ones to visit since 1897, when the mine was flooded. Water temps are constant 41-42 degrees.
I've never dove in a cave, but am curious. When you're in the cave, does your depth gauge measure the depth from the outer surface of the mine, or just the column of water directly over you?
IOW, in a 5 ft high tunnel at 195 feet, is the weight of the water from the actual surface constant all the way inside the tunnel?
Just wondering......

Pressure is consistent if you were in the open water. If one goes into a side tunnel at 300', you don't get a break from the decompression obligation, tho I wish it were so...
