Thursday 8/16 Local reef wreck We would have a very diverse group today, hunters (both buggers and spear fisherman) diggers and some site seekers. Doing some looking I found a location on the reef we had not been to before and it looked promising. After a quick run we were on site and dropping divers in to good conditions mid to upper 50's* and maybe 15-20 ft viz on the bottom. Still had that cloudy area around 30 ft. There would be a very good bug siting and we directed the siting to our resident Lobsta killer Diane....who I might add had wagers she would get it.....and get it she would! a very good bug at 4 lbs and 1/8 inch shy of being too big. Nice job Diane! A couple more bugs and fish would round out the haul for the day.
I'm having a problem with my photobucket account, I hope these can be viewed
Saturday 8/18 Hmmmmmmm The good ole Weatherman would get it very wrong today boys and girls! Forecast was for 2-3 ft seas.............that would be the wind chop on top of the 6-7 swells with an occasional 10 footer just to keep you honest! After an attempt at getting set, Capt Bill would decide to cut and run. We would stop back tomorrow to collect our line and ball. The site of me out on the pulpit throwing my right arm back like some crazy cowboy while insanely laughing my AZZ off must have been one site to behold. Thank god nobody had one of those hero things!
Sunday 8/19 .....the day after! Still blowing a bit but nothing like the day before. First stop, ball, line and chain. Still attached to an 8 foot hunk of links that we have personally relocated a little over 500 yards from its original location on the Middle barge. A quick dive on the Middle would provide us with some good eats. Fluke, Bugs and Sea Bass. Bottom viz maybe 10-15 depending on who you asked....I said 15 ft, most said 10..........it was dark because it was early and overcast. The original plan was to swing by the Delaware for a quick peek and see if we might find some lost gear from the previous day. Very good condition's on the Delaware today. Upper 50's* and maybe 15-20 ft of viz (very good for this wreck). Found gear and spear......a good Tog, some Fluke and some bugs. This wreck seems to always produce! Some folks we haven't seen in a bit got themselves a very nice 29 inch fluke. Overall a very productive day. There were even reports of a large critter in the parking lot that no one was able to identify.
