We got out yesterday, hailed LadyGoDiver on our way by but no response.... We headed off to the Great Isaac but found her to be occupied. We moved inshore and north to the San Saba for two. Surface vis was excellent, at 30' dropped to about 10 then opened up to about 15 on the bottom. Managed a few Tog, 4 bugs, and one trigger. The ocean was flat calm. Nice day to be out. Looking forward to the particulate dropping out of the water column and seeing some of the vis we should be having this time of the year. I was also surprised at the number of boats "tog" fishing... Also a heads up for boats coming through oyster creek channel. many boats have run aground appraching the dog leg turn outbound... Do NOT hug the right side of the channel approaching the dog leg right turn heading out from Barnegat Bay.
Sorry I did not hear your hail but I did see you pass. We were in a heated discussion on where to go at the time . I did try to call once we were out the inlet but you were long gone by that time. I looked toward the San Saba, Chopara, and Yellow flag after the first dive but all had boats. I am surprised the vis was good that close to our 3 ft of vis. Glad to hear you found some decent vis. I was surprised that we found better vis and then only a mile or two further out it turned to crap again. The fishing boats were killing me. They were all over and the Ridge was loaded with Bluefish? boats too. Hopefully the stiper fishing takes off soon. I figured we would have the wrecks to ourselves now. I guess a lot of boats ran aground Sunday at the dogleg as there were at least 3 tow boats hanging out there. I have always found it a little shallow close to the green bouys. Just like the cut has moved around I guess this shallow spot is moving too. I know that the outside of the green bouys can be very shallow as proved by a prop I bent last year in the fog. Will try to send a pm
