I run my boat out of Barnegat and in fact weather permitting will be going Friday myself. You don't really see many divers there. It's kind of dangerous and a loooong way out. The Notrh jetty is the one to dive. The ocean side from where the rocks are submerged to the monument should be great for seabass, blackfish and maybe lobster, stripper also. Unless you have a boat it's about a mile from the beach, a long swim. Vis should be 10' at the slack incoming tide, although with the recent rain everything is murky now. The channel is from 18 to 25' between the jetties. It may be slightly deeper right at the rocks and on the ocean side I would expect 30 to 35, but that's just a guess as I never really get that close to the rocks. I've heard of divers going on the land side of the North jetty inside the inlet bayside along the land. There is supposed to be a deep hole in the vicinity of where the old wood bulkhead is caving in. There is supposed to be some kind of wood structure in it and was known for good fishing. This area you can access from Island Beach with a buggy permit. If this is what your thinking you should be fine as very few if any boats go that far West as the main channel is more Easterly.
