Weather was supposed to be nice, we were heading out for our second trip of the season with the new boat. Took some time to set up a new dive bench a friend helped me make. We left the dock 20 minutes later than planned but made good time running offshore. Our destination was the Gulf Trade Stern. That extra 20 mins cost us as we were beaten to the wreck by a large party boat loaded with fisherman... Headed inshore to try and jump on the Viscaya but it was also occupied... Headed north to the crane barge and were successful. However by this time the wind and seas picked up quite a bit. We only made one dive there. Surface vis was excellent, thermocline has pushed down to at least 60 feet and the bottom was still pretty warm. Bottom vis is about 20' but a lot of particulate including various jellyfish/plankton. No surface current but a pretty steady one from north to south from about 30 feet to the bottom.
