In the link here, you can see footage on new side tunnels, captured by Teddy Garlock on Sunday 6/14/15. These are part of a large complex of tunnels or "drifts" as the miners called them. We believe these were carved out in the 1860s-1870s, and have not been seen since the entire complex flooded in 1897. While Teddy was shooting this, I was diving down the main pit, making a further connection with cave line between all the vehicles, starting at 195', and finally connecting them with our dive platform several hundred feet away. Water and soil samples taken by myself and John Eells in early May have been run by Nasreen Hague, and findings are fascinating. The local bacteria existing here are known for consumption of all the nasties we have concerned ourselves with, such as oil from the cars, thus cleaning the site's water. Clearly, more to come in the near future, as every dive we make we are discovering something unknown.
