The water is very warm and very clean - the vis is the best i have seen this year and was equal to NC where i was early this week.
As always the Tuna had Six eager divers ready to go grab a few lobsters and shoot a few fluke
I have been hating the rain for the past two days, and the chop was still a bit rough from Saturday Small Craft Warning which kept the level headed at the dock, but as we ventured out it just got better and better!!!!!
As we headed out to Capt Bills Secret Spot, which is kind of local, the rain stopped and i was loving it!!!!
the surface vis was great and as i dropped down i could see the deck of the Secret Wreck at like 30 feet - i was like this is going to be good.
Let me say this - i dont care what type of spear gun anyone uses to take fish, as long as the fish they shoot r legal - on board we had a 650 dollar custom made koah gun, maybe two , an bunch of JBL woodies and my 5 foot bent pole spear, custom bent to shoot around corners of the wreck mind you...lololol
2nd if you want fish, you should go where the fish r, no matter if they r on a man made reef or a actual shipwreck - Come on that makes sense does it not? - anyone who thinks the fish r better on a real shipwreck over a man made reef are just F-en Stupid end of story and can suck my artificial reef cert big time!!!!
Ok - seeing we were only in 65 feet of water and i was running a technical 36 % i was loving the bottom time - Let me say this!!!!!!
If you want Fluke and Big Ones and Plenty of them Capt Bill KNOWS where they are!!!!!
there were so many fish on the bottom, I decided to not shoot the winter flounders or the blackfish or the bearly legal fluke.
and of course i only would take head shots as not to ruin the fillets - ok as i am dragging along i soon see a nice 6 lber staring at me with those beady little eyes - i line up my pole spear and shoot and MISS THE FLUKES HEAD BY LIKE 1 INCH - and off it goes -
Ok no more head shots - only trophy fish and thats how it went - i passed fluke after fluke and fluke =- i measured them, i lifted them out of the sand , i ignored them as they swam by, because as everyone knows a true underwater explorer does not shoot small fish -
i did not ignore the two angry lobsters who came out to see me - they went in the bag - in all i filled my bag with three very nice fluke -
when i returned, the cooler was already filling quickly
i started my second dive looking for more lobster and lost fishing gear, and thought i saw a huge crusher claw - as i reached for it i was only rewarded with a nice 3 lb male with a very large claw, still not so bad , but not the giant i was after..
in the end Alan got a very Very Nice lobster, there were like 20, yes twenty fluke taken and 11 lobsters - i was like holy smokes thats alot of lobsters
Lobster impress me more than fluke any day - also i think one big time hunter got his finger broken and was crying about it on the way back to the dock - all i can say is, if you want to play , sometimes you got to pay - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Tuna seazure and Capt Bill can reached at Northeast scuba supply, if you want fluke in the freezer now is the time to go
i remain
