We decided to dive the Veronica M, a tug sunk as an artificial reef and named for the wife of longtime local diver and underwater photographer Herb Segars.
This was a picturesque wreck, intact and seemingly untouched by Hurricane Sandy. It has a main deck, superstructure, wheelhouse, railings and smokestack. Relatively large for a tugboat. One of the better tugs to dive on the Sea Girt or Axel Carlson reefs.
Bottom temp was 60 with visibility varying greatly depending where on the wreck one was. In the silt 5 would be generous, on the main deck vis wasn't too bad at 15 and I would say on top of the superstructure we had a good 25. So vis was pretty reasonable unless one dropped over the side of the hull.
Everyone had fun and dove safely.
