Our first choice was the Sea Girt Wreck, but there were 2 fishing boats tied up for opening day of Sea Bass. Capt Bill would elect to head over to the 120 wreck. We had been seeing quite a bit of Sea Bass hear lately but that was not the case today. Seas were not too bad early but got a little bumpy later. Viz maybe 10-15 ft and water temp 56-58*. 2 very nice bugs and a couple barely legal Sea Bass would be the haul today. Not what we had hoped for, the Sea Bass must have got the email it was hiding time again.
Saturday 9/28 Cadet
We were hoping after yesterday that maybe there would be some Sea Bass and Bugs closer in-shore. The weather forecast was iffy, if you believe the liars (Damn Weathermen) bumpy ride out and for most of the day. Viz not terribly bad for this Wreck. If you stayed up off the bottom 15 ft was the consensus. Temp again in the upper 50's*. Couple Sea Bass, nothing real big and again 2 very nice bugs would round out the haul today. NE wind and southern swell made for a fun ride on the surface. Not the best of days but certainly not the worst.
Sunday 9/29 Delaware (special request.....again!)
Again the forecast was not the greatest but we were gonna go take a peek. Delaware is a short ride and we thought we could get the day in. Solid 15 knot wind with some 20 knot gusts and seas running about 3-5 with an occasional 7-8 made for some yeehaw moments. Crazy current at the surface. Viz good on dive one maybe 15 ft and that's pretty darn good for this Wreck. Surge on the bottom that would pick up from dive one to dive two and viz dropped off badly to maybe 2-3 ft. Some nice artifacts released from the deep and a couple bugs I think. Got 2 and ran for cover.
The TUNA is running Thursday and there is still a spot or two available with great weather forecasted. We are wide open for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sea Bass is only open for a couple weeks and we will continue to try to find the elusive creatures as well as trying to get the lobsters in the pot as well. And for those so inclined we are always on the lookout for items of Junque'
