7/21 Hit a wooden wreck about 5 miles north east of Barnegat in about 75'. Had a fantastic day. Air temp was comfortable, surface vis was about 15' and the bottom was warm with about 40' vis. We scored 3 nice tog with the largest at 13.75 lbs, about 6 big fluke and a few bugs. The conditions were so nice we decided to do both dives there. On the second dive, after a long excursion off into the sand we encountered a horned butterfly ray that must have been about 8' from wing tip to wing tip. Absolutely amazing! In my 25 plus years of diving, this was probably the largest fish I've ever had an encounter with. From what I understand they are pretty rare. I believe it's the second largest type of ray. You just never know what you're going to see when you're out there... I still think NJ has some of the best diving in the world...
