Sunday we delayed the departure time to take advantage of the decreasing winds. The destination was the Virginia or Sommerstad so a long ride was in store. The day started out bumpy, but as predicted it improved and we were able to make it out there and had a good day.
This weekend we are headed to the Resor and Lillian now.
Saturday August 25th Resor"+" (125 fsw) The Scuba Connection
The Scuba connection has this charter. We will head out to the Resor which is one of the premier dives on the NJ coast. This 400 ft + tanker was hit by a u-boat in February 1942. We may stop by a nearby wreck to stock up on scallops on this trip too - that is the plus! Call the Scuba Connection, 908 359 1250, to reserve your place. There are only one or two places left, so do not wait too long.
Sunday August 26th Lillian (160 fsw) Open Boat
This 325 ft freighter has been producing for us this year, so we want to head back out there. It went down in 1939 in a collision. Last time out a porthole came up, so you do not want to miss out on the fun. This is the time of year to do the offshore sites. Call Capt Dan, 732 232 7878, to reserve your place.
Next weekend is Labor Day, and we have trips planned for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Saturday September 1st Stolt (130 fsw) Open Boat
It has been a while since we have been out to the Stolt. This tanker was cut in half in a collision in the 60's. It has a lot of structure and still looks like a ship. This wreck is a favorite since it has so much relief you can dive it anywhere from 70 to 130 fsw. Contact Capt Dan, 732 232 7878 to reserve your place.
Sunday September 2nd Resor (125 fsw) Tim's Dive Center
This is such a good site we are taking another run out there. If you missed the earlier trips or are just a fan of this wreck you don't want to miss this. Contact Tim at 814 421 2768 to reserve your place.
Monday September 3rd U-869 (240 fsw) Tim's Dive Center
If this wreck is on your list you don't want to miss this chance. There are few charters scheduled for this wreck, the famous U-Who and subject of books and documentaries. Contact Tim at 814 421 2768 to book your spot on this trip.
The trips have been filling early this year. Don't wait too long to make your plans for the trips coming up later in the summer- Bidevind & Goulandris to name a few. Many of these sites do not get visited often, so there is a lot of interest.
You can find the schedule on the Website, www.deepexpeditions.com . If you know any one who wants to be added to the mailing list, please just respond to this with the e-mail.
Remember, if you have not been out yet this year, the boat is now located at Hoffman's West Marina, 608 Green Ave, Brielle, NJ, 08730. The boat is midway down the slips closest to the railroad bridge.
Looking forward to seeing you out on the boat. Save Diving!
