The ocean did not look bad so we decided to stay close and head back early. First stop was just a few miles out and South , a schooner in about 60 ft. Vis was great at about 30 ft or better and temp was warm with wetsuit (even without pee). Not a whole lot of fish or lobster but I think between the three divers we had maybe 5 lobster and 2 or 3 fluke.
The weather improved all morning and we headed off shore just a bit to a little site. Just Bart and I went in and we got a few more lobster, some sea bass and I think trigger fish.
Next stop was metal wreck n 70 ft where we loaded up on Fluke.
Next stop was a little snag (very little) that we wanted to check . I figured we would just drop a bouy on it and dive that but I let the boat drift back on the bouy and of course I snagged it with the rudder. I jumped in to clear it and my mask dropped to the bottom . Bart quickly threw a bouy in and after using his mask I finally got lucky and found the mask. I have to admit to hitting the bouy twice before about 2 weeks ago. I was pretty pissed at myself and almost blew off the dive but the guys convinced me to give it a try and wow was it worth it? = no. We figured this was going to have some great artifact potential but not this time. There were some fish and only one lobster(about 5 lbs spotted but nothing taken, it looked to big to be legal so why molest it?.
Last stop it was starting to blow and we hit another shallow site on the way in . It had some fish but not much else.
I think we ended the day with fluke and lobster limits with a few sea bass, triggers ,etc thrown in .
So much for an early day it was about 4 pm when we got in. The fluke and lobster rodeo continued for another trip but the end must be near, right?
I was wiped out and by 7:30 I took a nap and woke up at 5:15 am for work.
Hopefully we will be out again this weekend.
