Lobsta's and fish would be the theme today and Fluke the main interest. With last weeks 62* temps we thought the Fluke fishing would continue to improve.
After a very short ride we were on site to find that temps had fallen quite a bit from last week to about 54*. Viz would still be very good at maybe 15-20 ft.
Couple Fluke and some Sea Bass and a couple Lobsta's. We would start a little later than usual due to some thunder storms in the area. With the short ride back we were still able to get back around 1130am.

6/30 Local wooden wreck
One of our regulars was hoping to get back to a "project" where some very cool "items" were rescued last year.
Same 54* and same 15-20 ft viz but a much more sanded in wreck greeted us today. Project area will need some scootin'
After dive one there was grumblings to move but we would hold out and get dive 2 in at this location. As it turns out the sanding in made for bigger than normal jumps from piece to piece. When everyone got out and away things got more interesting. Sea Bass and a lone Fluke, no Lobsta's (only shorts spotted) One of our regulars would get his personal best Sea Bass (4-5 lbs) Considering the first dive was not so great, it turned out everyone seemed to have a good time. Still hoping to add some pics when available.
7/1 Sea Girt Reef 2.0
Well, with the success from Friday and by the load of boats out front we thought it wise to try the same spot again, with maybe a little tweak of our numbers to see some more of this area. We would not be disappointed, same 54* and maybe 20+ ft viz today. Considering this spot was found by a long swim Friday we would tie in to a very significant structure that we had not tied into before. We would have a very adventurous group today, evidenced by boats a long ways off asking if the bubbles under their boat were our divers....they were and they were way the heck out there. Not many fish today, but the ones we had would be nice ones. The reef was really hopping today!. As the reef was loaded with boats it was decided to hang the boat on some sisal for the pull. Bad sisal placement on my part would have us redecorating the reef today with our strategically placing certain parts a couple hundred feet from it's former location. Having to "fix" my problem another very "interesting" spot was identified for future considerations......large rounded rocks with very big Fluke sunning themselves awaiting dinner invitations.
We'll have to take care of that very soon!.
Not many, but good ones none the less:
