This schooner-pilot boat sank due to storm on January 24, 1877. Known as the January Wreck, a name given by George Hoffman as a promising time for divers to first explore this newly found wreck. The wreck was later identified when recovered shards of glass spelled KINS. Eric Gray researched the partial name and made the association for a positive identification.
