Last Week
Sunday the 29th – Delaware – Yet another good day on the steamer, we sailed with a light boat but with water temps in the high forties, 20 to 25 foot of vis. and two foot seas you really can’t ask for more at the end of January. As usual a collection of brass spikes came up and one of my divers got into what appeared to be a case of shoes and recovered the remnants of a ladies high button leather shoe along with pieces of several others.
This Week
Wednesday the 1st - OPEN -less than 100’ – I’ve had some interest in getting out Wednesday. Current forecast is for air temperatures approaching 60 and two to four foot seas.
Saturday the 4th – OPEN - less than 100’ – Although I’m certainly open to suggestions I have a spot or two in mind that I’d like to put a diver or two on.
Sunday the 5th – OPEN – less than 100’ - 0700 departure – Yeah I know it’s Super Bowl Sunday but the kick-off isn’t till 6:30, so if you want to get a dive in we’ll be back to the dock by 2:00.
Next Week
Wednesday the 8th – OPEN - 0800 departure – Lobsters and Fish 100> - I’ve listed this as a hunting trip but again destinations are subject to change based on the desires of those on-board.
Saturday the 11th – OPEN - Special Dredging trip 80> - This is scheduled to be a working dive on the wreck I’ve been looking to dig some holes in for awhile. This is the same wreck we were at a number of weeks ago when it was too rough to deploy the dredge but just hand fanning produced a few brass valves. Dredge dives are open to anyone; however there will be a three inch pump running most if not all of the day and if you’re looking for a quiet day at sea this won’t be one. Give me a call on my cell 201-401-4608 if you have any additional questions concerning this type of dive.
Sunday the 12th – OPEN - Mohawk 80’ - The Mohawk is always a good dive with something for everyone, whether you’re into lobsters and fish, artifacts, photography or just sightseeing. Sunk January 24th 1935 after colliding with the MV Talisman do to failure of the Mohawks steering gear.
NOTE: One thing to keep in mind is that winter destinations are really just suggestions on my part, unless the trip is scheduled as a “Special” but If you have somewhere you want to get to let me know and if we have the divers and the weather that’s where we’ll head.
ATTENTION
The 2012 SEA LION charter schedule is posted on the web site www.atlantic-wreckdivers.com . Although I have confirmations from more than 90% of the charters be aware that the schedule “may” change slightly but if you’re looking to plan your 2012 diving season now’s the time.
Atlantic City 2012
If you’ve taken a look at the 2012 schedule on the web site you’ve seen that we are again going to be running out of Kammerman’s Marina from the middle of May till the first week in June. Along with the trips already listed for those dates I plan on adding a Varanger trip and possibly even running down to Cape May for a couple of days to hit the City of Athens with the dredge and possibly even a run out to the Northern Pacific
