Today we had a great weather forecast so we decided to move the boat up to Shark River for the winter and dive our way up. When we cleared Barnegat Inlet and turned North we were amazed at the fleet of boats off the old coast guard station. I guess word got out about the outstanding bass action there for the past few day. Well we stopped and fished too but just managed a blue so we did not stay long.
First stop was to be the Charlemange Tower but a fishing boat had already set up on it so we moved over to another wreck just a mile or two offshore. Great vis at 25 or so feet in about 60 ft of water. Some lobster and fish but a lot of eggers. Bart came up with a bag full of lead artifacts.
Next we were going to stop on the Emerald but a fishing boat was set up on it. By the way we did not see any fish coming up on the wreck fishing boats. We also tried fishing the wrecks and only scored dogfish. Well anyway we moved to the Hankins and scored a few more lobster and Bart actually got a copper "thing" that weighted about 20 lbs.
Nice day on the water and now the boat is at Main One for the winter season. Yipee, 5 minutes to the ocean!!
