Goodbye... Old Friend. Technical divers using tables just loved the obsolete Uwatec digital gauge pictured at right. It was reliable and gave you the basic information of current and max depth, elapsed time, temperature and an ascent rate monitor. It also had a rudimentarily log function, retaining the last nine dives. And... like many things we love, it was far from perfect. The Uwatec was only available calibrated for fresh water, the battery could not be changed (when the battery died you threw whole thing away), it was officially rated only 328 feet (although it could actually go deeper), it was not downloadable, it had no back light and the factory wrist strap would eventually break. Unfortunately, though we loved it, the Uwatec digital gauge is no longer manufactured. Even today, with the popularity of technical dive computers, we still carry backup tables and many divers are seeking a replacement solution for a good digital gauge. We suggest you consider the Dive Rite Nitek Duo or Trio, not as a dive computer, but in gauge mode as the NiTek Digital Gauge.
