Well, we finally made it out today. We had a favorable forecast and a scheduled to go the Coney Island with Dosils and Underwater World, we headed out in 3 to 4 foot seas. Before long we had caught up with the Independence who was going to the Algol. So we had a nice run together riding side by side.
When we got out to the site, Bart got ready and Denise and Ray stood by ready to spring into action. We got tied in 10 minutes flat. (Bart did not like my drop, I thought he was getting lazy because I always drop the shot line right on top of the wreck. So I made it a little challenging for him.)
As divers came back to the boat, they were reporting 70 degrees on the bottom and 30 foot of visibility. Bart’s bag had a trifecta in it, lobster, fish and scallops. (or should I say scallop)
I had to empty the lunch cooler because people kept bring fish and lobster on board. There even was one good 4+ pounder.
Everyone enjoyed the surface interval as the sun came out and seas started to lie down.
Time for the second dive and off everyone went. There were a few more fish that come up and even 2 more lobsters. There was one missing piece of gear that we hope is found, the diver would appreciate it. He lost one of those expensive wooden spear guns on the wreck without the spear in it.
Please let me know if anyone finds it.
Well all things must come to an end, it was time to pull the hook. Ray headed in a bit early to make a quick tour of the wreck to look for the missing spear gun, but no luck. After everyone was back on the boat, I decided to make a quick trip by the Independence since they were only a short distance over on the Algol just to say hi. You will never guess what crew member of mine that was on Dan’s boat? I wonder who that was???????
Friday September 18th – we have a night dive scheduled to the Mohawk with the Diversion Group.
Saturday September 19th – we will be heading to one of the many sites in the Shark River Reef with the Explorer Club and Treasure Cove.
Sunday September 20th – we are heading to the Great Isaac with the Diversion Group and Hunterdon Scuba.
If you want to join us this coming weekend, please one of the above shops or clubs.
DSAO,
