I got out for the first time this year and it was great to be back in the water. My son and I went on a local dive boat (prefers to be anonymous) for our first trip. After a quick ride, we were at the Northeast Sailor. This is a low lying wooden wreck with what used to be a tall chain pile. The chain looks to have been hit a couple of times and is collapsing. More of the wood seems to be exposed. The dive is about 75 feet. Bottom temp was 55 with viz about 15 or more. There are bugs all around. I picked up a short and missed a nice size one in the chains. Several nice sea bass and a couple of lobster made it back to the boat.
We all had a great time and decided to stay on the wreck for the second dive. Between dives the current changed and and we had a bit of a chop. The grapple was bouncing and this dropped viz to about 10 feet. We swam off the chain pile to some wreckage and I gave my son a chance to bag his first lobster. After successfully declawing the bug, he finally brought it out and into his bag. I had my hand on a nice size bug, but it was a softy so I let it go.
It was great to be back under water.
