(I hope this is the right URL, or else maybe someone can provide the correct one) and then compare the results to loran-c/gps pairs that you have measured yourself in the general area of the spot under study. For example, suppose I have good loran-c and gps numbers for the Mohawk and I want to find the 120 wreck. I would calculate the Mohawk gps numbers from posaid, compare them with the actual numbers, and develop corrections for the lat and lon lines. Then, if you only have Loran-c for the 120 you use those numbers to calculate gps coordinates and use the Mohawk corrections to find the "refined" 120 numbers. The problem is that the corrections depend quite a bit on how far offshore you are, since the speed of propogation of the low frequency loran-c signals differs over land and sea. I've organized my sites into general areas where the corrections are pretty close to each other and the results have been pretty good. Once you get to the estimated site you probably will have to throw a buoy and circle it a few tims before you find the exact spot. If you have no loran-c/gps pairs then I'm sure someone else can help you out; but not me. Good luck.
