Well - I also called. The party I talked with said they have NO jurisdiction over what is taken in federal waters... Wait...then the question of "landed in NJ" came up to which the party said you need a license. I then asked "what the F%$& is the right answer - to which this party said, "I dunno."
Basically, they are saying that EVERY single person who takes mussels must have a license. I guess its Good Bye to NJ Diving - what is Left???
Finally - I was directed to the "big Boss" Jim Joseph at 609-748-2040.
I suggest a call to this person. I also suggest everyone show up at CLARKS LANDING this Friday at 7:30 pm to voice your concerns to NJ State Senator Sean Kean, primary sponsor of the "TRAPS OFF THE REEF" bill. He will be speaking at the Mako Mania captains meeting. His new slogan can be: “Take the trappers and DIVERS off our reefs!”
BOHICA!
