Posted by Shadow on 12/20/2005, 10:56 am, in reply to "VTWC's Advice..." I wouldn't worry about synthetic or crepe wool. If they only need to hold up for that short of a run, they should be just fine. Faux fur is easy to clean as well. Turn the wig inside out, submerge in warm (not hot) water with mild soap (wollite is grand). Swish it around a bit then rinse it out. (DO NOT USE A BLOW DRYER OR ANYTHING LESE HOT-I can't stress this enough.) Squish with a towel to get some water out, then set in front of a big fan to dry. If they aren't bad enough to wash, just dry them in front of your handy dandy giant fan, and spray the inside with Enbac or some other spray that kills germs. (I think Fabreeze has an anti bacterial product as well.) Heck, you may even want to stick a dryer sheet in the box with the wigs (or under each wig) during the week to make sure that they will smell fresh and good for the next weekend's performance. Createx airbrush ink works really well on faux fur, and once the catalyst is added, stands up quite well to washing. I hope that this helps! ~Shadow
I would go ahead and use faux fur or RHC's. VTWC seems to know a lot more than any of us. *smiles* She has a lot of experience, but not a lot of tact.
