Did I tell you all that mom lost her job?

I hope I'm not repeating myself. I apologize if I am. Our mom lost her job on March 30. She went to work and was expecting a normal workday. By 9:45am she was unemployed. She has worked at the university for almost 28 years. She worked in the school of nursing for 5 years. She got another full time position in a different department and would have been there 22 years in August. Mom's position was eliminated. Another position in her department was also eliminated. Mom will get paid through May 17. She took this past week off from job hunting, although she keeps checking job openings at the university. She is trying to schedule a time to meet with a lady in the HR department to find out the best option for her. Mom could go into the temporary worker pool and hope jobs come along,or she can take her retirement and look for employment elsewhere. If she takes the retirement she doesn't think she'll be able to draw unemployment. Mom isn't even mad about losing her job. She is mad (and hurt) about the way it was done. A month or so ago she was asked to write up the steps she does to register people in a specific program. The guy that was let go was asked to do the same thing for a program he used. Now she knows why her supervisor wanted those directions. He knew then that mom and the other person were going to be laid off. She said she thinks that was poopy. Well, that's not exactly what she said, but we are too polite and refined to repeat it. Mostly mom is hurt. She could have been given a heads-up about it coming. It would still have been hard on her, but she could have been prepared AND she could have started bringing her stuff home. Instead, she went in this past Tuesday to pack her stuff.
We apologize for the long post. But if anyfur wants to go yak in her former supervisor's shoes, they are welcomed to do so!
