Tell your mom that, at the first sign of an oncoming cold, she must use a neti pot. She will say, no, absolutely not. That is what all humans say when you tell them. Insist. Make her do it. Tell her that, since my mom has begun using her neti pot (about 5 years ago), she has gone from having about 4 colds (most of which eventually turned into bronchitis/borderline pneumonia) each year. Now, if mom gets 1 cold per year, it's an extraordinarily sick year...plus, the annual cold turned into a very mild case of bronchitis only once. The neti pot prevents mom's oncoming colds about 95% of the time and, on the rare occasions when it doesn't, the neti pot makes the symptoms (congestion and a stuffy, runny nose) about 99% better. Every chain drugstore sells them. Make your mom buy one. Please? Any brand, and any type, is fine. Mom has found this one to be her favorite, but they're all good: https://www.amazon.com/Nasopure-Nicer-Sinus-System-Ounce/dp/B002N1TOZ6/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1495213606&sr=1-3&keywords=neti+pot
