Lets see - graduated in 1976. Close friends with Joe, his wife at the time (dont' remember her name),Johanna, John, Milt, and Ken. Left the island, attended Hampshire College 4 years, drank and drugged the whole time, didn't graduate, a sign of things to come. Moved to Boston, worked as Technical Director of a theatre company called The Courtyard Theatre. Decided either the city didn't like my drinking habits, or I didn't like the city...moved to the mountains of Idaho, proceeded to drink/drug myself near death. Sobered up. Managed a restuarant in Sun Valley for 6 years almost completely in a blackout. Hard to belive eh? Well, the food was good. Hadn't ever been married, found a woman thought would work out. Decided to get sober. Moved to Boise sober 2 years, almost got married - she started stealing drugs from her patients (she was a nurse), she OD'd - I called ambulance, they locked her up, I was alone again. Tried to move to LA (maybe the big city wasn't so bad, eh?), didn't work out. Still sober, still single. Moved to California sober 4 years at this point. Bought a small house within sight of one of the most active earthquake faults in the world - after all, at this point, the quakes was the most motion I've been having in my bedroom. haha!! So, got heavy into AA, managing a local electronics store. Went to many meetings. Met a woman, decided to get married. Didn't think she had a drinking problem, she does:( Still married, same woman. Some difficulties in the relationship. I am half the computer dept of a local 2 year college. Sober now 13 years. MT was one of the greatest and most memorable parts of my life . Write back anytime if you'd like. Al Whitehurst
How's that for a one paragraph summary? Well, I suppose it IS a rather long paragraph. :)
