Thanks for keeping the board informed. Here's the text of the POV and the link to it.
MY POV: Using her nephew Phillip's ex-wives to wrest control of Spaulding Enterprises away from Alan was pouring salt in the wounds as far as Alexandra was concerned. But for Guiding Light fans, it was a treat to see the short, sweet returns of Krista Tesreau and Mary Kay Adams, who play Phillip's first and second wives, Mindy Lewis and India von Halkein, respectively. GL wisely wove Mindy's and India's passages to Springfield into other stories. Mindy revisited the Lewis clan as the family supported Reva just before her sentencing. Tesreau showed that Mindy has not lost an ounce of her beauty and spunk! Likewise, Adams shined as India sparred with Alexandra, flirted with Phillip (after reveling in the news of his split with Beth), and reconnected with Ben Reade, the son of India's late pal Maeve Stoddard. India also found a new potential nemesis in Alan's latest wife Olivia. The only gripe with these returns is that they were all too brief. There are plenty of reasons to keep both of Phillip's former mates in town. The Lewises are famous for closing ranks during times of crisis. Also, Mindy's half-brother Bill is dating her old rival Beth, creating lots of opportunities for Tesreau's comedic skills to shine. Adams's India, too, would have lots to keep her busy up at the Spaulding mansion. For starters, she's keyed into the family's best-kept secret Phillip has the hots for his newest stepmother. GL has invested a great deal in signing soap diva Joan Collins as Alexandra. Who better to go up against the Spaulding matriarch than her former stepdaughter? The conflicts between Alex and India were a highlight on GL throughout the mid-'80s and were revisited nicely in 1990. As the show continues to celebrate its 50th year on television, it could only benefit by further acknowledging the potential that India and Mindy can bring to the soap's future.
