Fred , ie: Hibiscus syriacus 'Diana' (9 pics)

I got a few pics I had mentioned recently. I got what I wanted except for that very large Tree Ive noticed for years. I will try to get that one soon. Here is a small hedge row of about 6 purple Rose of Sharons just 2 blocks away from me. Below are a few pics of a home that use to have an airtight hedge around their property but Im seeing a few gaps in places and was disappointed in not seeing it the way it had been in years past. Looks like they trimmed them up hard. The tight hedge was beautiful. This is the color of those hedges above Fred here is a white hibiscus syriacus that I mentioned before, It looks very beautiful but I dont think its 'Diana' since it belonged to a Great Aunt and she would have placed it years ago. I cant tell if its the evenings closure of the blooms or it looks this way. I took several cuttings. Here is my Diana this evening and the blooms are very large. Is 'Diana' relatively new? What can you tell me on pure white Rose of Sharon besides 'Diana' ? Those I mentioned that were on a lot once owned by a great Aunt are white like Diana and with a white pistil also, non colored. Have you seen anything like that before Fred? Thanks Fred

Great pictures, Rob. R.O.S. often get very very leggy in old age. I think that trimming them tight tightens them up but it maybe loses some bloom. I have that old fashioned colored one you show as a hedge. They make a great hedge! Your old aunt's white is nice. I think the blooms had just closed up. Your 'Diana' looks like the white at my daughters, beautiful. I am glad that the Althea seems to be coming back in popularity, as they say' what was once old is new again.' I hope I start seeing more here. Such beauty needs to be appreciated in more gardens.

Fred thanks for your comments about trimming and possible loss of blooms the following year and surge in popularity of the Rose of Sharon with new creations BUT wanted to show you the 'Diana' and evidently older heirloom white for comparison. Thanks. Hibiscus syriacus 'Diana' Hibiscus syriacus 'White' heirloom (?)

I had 3 regular ones here. They got leggy and didn't look good so I took them out. The old blossoms on them would be sticky and stink so I said the hell with it. I like the looks of the new varieties though, thanks for showing the white one.
