I'm kinda surprised that you've never tried Phormium, in your yard, Fred. I thought you might've had one planted from many years ago. When I started posting on this board, almost 20 yrs ago, folks in the Deep South always posted about a wide range of plants they had in their gardens...way beyond Camellias, Crapes, Axaleas, and Southern Mags. They posted about lots of Gingers, Curcumas, more banana types than Basjoo, as well as a lot of different palms, citrus, and Cycads. |
In more recent years, I only hear about folks, in South Florida, or Southern Cali, growing most of this stuff. I used to read a lot of posts from those who lived between Houston, and Corpus Christi, TX. They've all but disappeared. Maybe, they're on Facebook, or something. I wonder, though, if these people still garden (or like Robert Lee Riffle, passed on).
