Year before last, the pictured Clivia got damaged from cold, in my garage. The temp outside my garage dipped to 20, in early December. It must've gotten colder than the 10 degrees of warmth difference, over outside temps, I previously thought I would get. I was trying to see how long the plant could stay outdoors (going in and out of the garage). Lost quite a few leaves. I didn't think it would bloom, last winter, but it did a little, anyway, in 2023. I was so relieved, lol! I learned my lesson. She seems back to herself again.
The Saucer Magnolia has been a favorite of mine, since childhood. I knew immediately after I lost Jon Jon, that I would be getting another Saucer Mag.
All my Easter cacti are in bud, and will be blooming soon. All five are different colors.
Up here (my garden), in terms of shrubs and trees, Spicebush, witch hazel, and February Daphne are the earliest to bloom, in late winter.
Crocosmia used to be thought of plants that needed to be dug in fall, and replanted in spring. However, they are hardy enough to return, if left in the ground. They slowly spread, too.
