Correctomunfo, regarding rhubarb, the pipeline.
Rhubarb is very hardy, and prefers growing in zones 7 and below. Summer heat lasts too long in zones higher than 7, and winters are not cold enough.
Yep, white Forsythia does have Loropetalum like flowers. They are smaller though. White Forsythia flowers are a little smaller than the yellow flower type. Last year, I planted a PINK-flowered Forsythia, but it is merely budding leaves, this year. So, maybe next year it'll bloom. I look forward to having all 3 known Forsythia colors blooming in my garden.
I agree that Cardiocrinum is unusual. Plants can reach 10 ft tall, when they send up their flower stalk. Test, unlike many lilies, their stems are strong enough, to not need staking. I'm waiting to see if I see any self-seeded starts this season, from the open seed capsules, from the dead mother plant.
Tulips are usually grown as annuals, in the higher zones. Some people stratify their Dutch bulbs, in the fridge, for 3 months, before planting them in mid to late winter, for them to bloom in the deeper South. I think Tony in Dallas used to grow Dutch bulbs, as annuals.
