However, Wisteria can be invasive, if not painstakingly controlled. I have one plant, trained to a single trunk, that requires pruning, several times during the growing season, to keep it from twining its way up neighboring shrubbery, as well as onto the house. It is also known to pup, or form suckers at, or just below the soil surface, which will grow along the surface of the ground, forming roots along the ground running stems.
I believe it would have been easier to control, if I planted my vine in a large pot, rather than planted in the ground. If I knew then, what I know now about the plant's growth habits, I would have grown it in a large pot, instead.
Those you show growing along the road, are happy, with unlimited amount of space to spread, and do what it does naturally. I can imagine that seedlings could also produce more plants, too.
