Here's a pic of my variegated GOSHIKI HOLLY OLIVE, Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki', at the end of winter. The branches had been tied together, and a rose cone was all that was necessary, to get this plant through a z6b winter. This is another example of a BLE, growing in my garden...

Here is one of two species of this genus, growing, in my yard. This plant was planted last spring, and was rated only z7 hardy, so I would not likely find it locally. It was covered with just a rose cone, This Iris relative (although its blooms look more like those of white Purple Heart) is native to the Down Under island country of New Zealand. This selection is a hybrid, and is known as, Libertia 'Amazing Grace'. Anybody else growing this?

Here's a pic of a California native plant. I have had it for about 3 years, and it appears to have made it through another Michigan winter. They say it has become rare, in its native Cali, Yhis plant is called the BUSH ANEMONE, Carpenteria californica. I can't remember if this is the 'Elizabeth' cultivar. Anybody else growing this California native?

This plant is native to the Mediterranean part of the world. It is known for its leaves, that are often used to season meats. I know I cut a stem, close to a foot long, last fall, and have been using pieces of the now dried leaves, ever since. In Ancient Rome, headbands were made from its stems. This plant is known as, the BAY LAUREL, Laurus nobilis 'Sicilian Sunshine'. Looks like it gas survived the winter. It, too, is a BLE....

Here is another BLE I'm growing. Grows more sem-evergreen, here. Its common name, TITI, is pronounced like a Georgia nursery, that advertises some of its plants, next to a woman, in a bikini. Botanically, the plant is called, Cyrilla parvifolia 'Little Leaf'. Here's my plant, in late winter ...

This is another Camellia relative, like Gordonia, Cleyera, and Franklinia, that I'm growing here. According to CamForest, these shrubs grow in the same area, with Camellias, in their native Asia. This plant is known as, Eurya japonica 'Moutiers'. Anybody else growing this variegated BLE?...
