The picture I attached is from 2 years ago, and the fig was only 3 feet high with no fruit. This summer it reached 7 feet, and produced over 100 figs. Only a dozen or so ripened to the edible stage.
And no, I am not the Florida Ken. I live, and have lived all my life in Ottawa Canada. We are 100 miles north of Watertown N.Y. Average daily temperatures in January are a high of 23 Fahrenheit and a low of 5. I wrap the fig in winter with burlap stuffed with dead leaves.
A friend here grows one outside with no protection. It is killed to ground, but comes back to 2 feet high in summer.
