Fred you did a good thing of getting it back to nature. It did fall prey but there is no telling how it would have suffered in your settlement.
Animals usually die as their habitat is destroyed, and face competition from other animals and starve to death. Many animals are killed each year because of deforestation. Try not to dwell on it friend. It was beyond your control. That animal was not supposed to be on your property and that tells you its habitat had been compromised.
