sounds like a nice trip Cindy. If ever you aver near Louisville Ky, Bernheim Forest and Arboretum is a do not miss. IT is a 15 thousand acre place with 6000 labeled plants. The 300 different holly types is One of the largest Holly Collections in USa. There are fields forest, lake,large nature center, Driving and walking trails. Free during week and 5.00 a car on Weekends and a bonus is the Jim Bean Distillery is just across the road. IT a gives free tours and presentations etc. USed to give sample of Bourbon, but do not know if they still do. Just down the road is Bardstown Ky,Bourbon Capital of the World, 2nd oldest town in KY. Most of the original town hails form the late 1700'with gorgeous Federal, Greek REvival and other types of architecture in late 1770's AND 80's TO 1850. They have 279 homes on Federal list Of Historic places. The John Rowan plantation home is here. IT is now MY Old KY Home state Park, They have a dinner train excursions, the 2nde Oldest Historical outdoor musical in the US., 'The Stephen Foster' STory', second only to ' the Lost Colony' Production in Manteo, NC.They have The oldest Catholic Cathedral west of the Appalachian MTs. Bardstown was the center of the Catholic diocese of KY. IT was settled in late 1700's primarily by catholics form the eastern Shore mainly Talbot Co Maryland. LOl. Need I say more, LOL. Oh, least I forget there are tours of a couple of major distilleries. Maker,s Mark Distillery is also in the area near Lorreto, Ky.Lots of shops and restaurants as well downtown, etc.
