It's not uncommon for the Brooksville area to drop into the mid teens. I think after Crestview in the panhandle it's usually the cold spot of the peninsula. Gainesville area can get cold too, it's probably border line 8b-9a. All time low there was 10F in I think '89, plus being in the center of the state it doesn't get on shore breezes from the gulf or the Atlantic so it's a misery in summer. Coldest I saw Sanford, where my son lives was 30F on the fourth, there were 4 hours at or below freezing. The temps are recorded at the airport, not far from where he lives. It's been many years since hes had a real freeze there, mostly just light frost.
