That's awesome you were able to reconnect with your favorite HS teacher . It kind of made me think back on some of the people that have inspired me over the years . I can't really say that any of my HS teachers or college professors inspired me all that much but , it's one of those deals that you get out of it what you put into it . Back then my interests were definitely not what they are today . Well, maybe they were I just didn't know it yet ...
I think if you can find what really interests you then you can open your mind and soak up the knowledge the instructor has to share .
This never happened to me until I went to work in a factory and after a few years and several different jobs found my true calling as a designer/machinist/welder/fabricator . During this time I had the opportunity to work with and learn from some really great mechanics,welders and machinists .
Now in my current job at a small liberal arts college I have the wonderful opportunity to give back some and share my passion for metalwork with the Physics majors in my dept.
The biggest reward is when they graduate and actually end up in jobs where they are using some of the skills I taught them .
BTW his artwork is very cool . That is something I want to do more of ...
