Rob, I think your best bet would be marigolds or zinnias, especially the dwarf growers. Even with a greenhouse you'd be hard pressed for blossoms in 40 days though. Petunias and impatiens are started in Jan. for April bloom.

With the exception of Louisiana, which is toast, my minors and needle are okay. My small E. cinerea has been toast since Dec. My low temp here hasn't been colder than last years, but to paraphrase the real estate people, duration, duration, duration.
