How well does it hold up to daily driving and exposure to weather? thats the best idea I have heard yet, wonder why i didnt think of it.
I have worked construction briefly as well, i remeber how wood swells when wet....
Wait, may cast a little bit, but I wonder if you couldnt use a composite decking 4x4 post to lag bolt into. It would be lighter than the 4x4, and more resistant to the elements. A lil more pricey, but you wouldnt have to worry about swelling or rotting
