What are you not convinced about with the C6?
The AOD will bolt up to the engine but specifics as to what flywheel, starter, trans mount, and shift levers is going to take some research. For flywheel and starter you can find a factory 351/AOD application like the 79 Crown Vic/5.8 liter Police Crown Vic and see what part numbers are the same as what your car uses. You're probably going to end up with minor fabrication needed for the trans mount and shifter.
Also the AOD uses a cable for shift modulation, called a Throttle Valve (TV) cable. This takes the place of the vacuum modulator. I know Lokar sold a cable but if it's still available I don't know. One of the most important items in an AOD install is to get this cable correct. If it isn't you can burn an AOD up before you know it.
Personally I find AOD's to be sluggish and lackluster performers unless modified heavily. Because of that getting one that is a joy to drive is very expensive. Here's a link for the leading performance AOD forum:
