Posted by Nobby I can honestly say that their are few Munros to climb without having the ability to be able to navigate. I certainly would not advocate anyone doing any hills without having the basic skills. I've never been on a navigational course and I personally learned through reading and gained experience over the years with usage. One fact is that the compass seldom lies and I've learned to use it religiously after a few bad mistakes were made in navigation. These were made when I was relying on my own brain. Learn the basic skills and use them on fine days, preferably on lower hills. It's amazing how much confidence this will give you and the benefits will be gained for the times when you really need them. Good Luck

Yes it is fairly easy (mostly) on a fine day, but these can breakdown in minutes and you could find yourself in a serious situation.
