I am a doctor conducting research into the causes of HAPE (high altitude pulmonary edema). We are planning to conduct simple studies that will only involve a questionnaire and a cheek swab for genetic analysis. This will help us to understand what causes HAPE, and hopefully help us to work out ways to treat this rare but devastating disease.
