This is a nice problem that has exercised many geographical and mathematical minds, see for instance some of the entries on the Relative Hills of Britain group site, like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rhb/message/1081 The answer seems to be that views from one suitably high top to another will easily stretch to over 100 miles in prime conditions.
