As a keen hillwalker in the UK I've admired many hilltop views but wondered whats the maximum distance you can see from a summit ? 40-50 miles seems quite normal from the top of a Munro but I had an occasion recently where I could see the mountains beyond Stirling from the Moffat hills - my estimate was that was close to 60 miles. I noticed on the top of Lochnagar a directional plaque with the Cheviot on it at over 100 miles distant - can it really be seen ?
