Davie latterly lived at Fersit in an old bus beside Nancy Smith's hostel. He died sometime in the late 70s or early eighties. He was Scottish Champion 'diddler' for many years and a regular at folk festivals. He was responsible for a number of first ascents of winter routes in the corries above Glen Clova sometime in the 30s. He reputedly cycled from Dundee most weekends to Glen Clova and I think he was an early member of the Carn Dearg club..
The Boorach used to have a plaque on it saying it was maintained by the Forfar and District Hill Walking Club - motto 'fariwinoo?'.
